Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Zverev Book Their Spot in the Spotlight

All big names are competing in the 2025 edition. Novak Djokovic, the most successful player in Australia, is hunting for his 11th Australian Open and 25th Grand Slam. The 37-year-old has Andy Murray in his coaching staff and there is still some energy left in his legs. Djokovic made it to the fourth round after a straight-set win over his opponent. Here is how the match went and some other results from Down Under.
Djokovic: First straight sets win
Novak Djokovic needs to get the best out of him to compete against players much younger than him. The Serb faced some challenges in his opening two matches. He lost a set each in the opening two rounds. Novak was up against Tomas Machac in the third round.
The former World No. 1 won the first set with ease. He converted two break points and eased past his opponent with a 6-1 win. Machac knew that he had to show his best game against the veteran. However, Djokovic proved to be an even tougher opponent on the night. He won the second set 6-4. Novak converted two breaks and Machac converted his only break.
Djokovic won the third set 6-4. Once again, Novak converted a break point and took the match in 2 hours and 21 minutes. Novak will face Jiri Lehecka in the next round of the competition.
Carlos Alcaraz drops first set
Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz has also made it through to the fourth round of the Australian Open. Alcaraz was up against Nuno Borges. The Spaniard hadn’t dropped a set in the opening two rounds. He started the third round with a 6-2 win in the opening set. Alcaraz converted two break points in this set.

The Spaniard took the second set as well. He won it 6-4. This time Alcaraz converted his only break point of the set. Nuno Borges was not going down easily. He decided to put his foot on the accelerator and took the set to a tiebreaker. Borges won the tiebreaker 7-3. Carlos Alcaraz was not opening any doors for a comeback. He converted two breaks and took the set 6-2. Alcaraz took 2 hours and 55 minutes to book his berth in the fourth round.

Alexander Zverev eases past Fearnley
Second seed Alexander Zverev was up against Jacob Fearnley in the third round. It took Zverev 1 hour and 57 minutes to book his place in the fourth round. Zverev won 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4. He converted five out of the 12 break points in the game.

Fourth seed Taylor Fritz was knocked out by Gael Monfils in the third round. Karen Khachanov has also been knocked out.
