Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner, Fritz at Wimbledon: Four Paths, One Destiny

Shilpa Rajan     July 20, 2025

Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Taylor Fritz are the four names remaining in the Wimbledon 2025 draw. Novak Djokovic will be up against Jannik Sinner, and Alcaraz is set to take on Fritz in the semi-final.

Djokovic Eyes No. 25

It has been a long wait for Novak Djokovic’s 25th Grand Slam. The 38-year-old won the US Open in 2023, and since then, he has been trying his best. Djokovic came from a set down against Flavio Cobolli. The Italian won the first set in a tie-breaker. Novak was pushed to his limits. It took the Serb three hours and 12 minutes to seal the match. He won the next three sets 6-2, 7-5, and 6-4.

Novak is set to play in his 14th Wimbledon semi-final. He has reached the last two on 10 occasions and won seven times. Djokovic has reached the last six Wimbledon finals. He won it from 2018-2022 (2020 event not held) and lost the last two finals. This is a golden opportunity for this tennis legend to level his Wimbledon titles with Roger Federer. Novak will try to eliminate the World No. 1 and end his wait for the much-awaited 25th.

Sinner eyeing first Wimbledon final

World No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner is looking to reach his first Wimbledon final. He overcame Ben Shelton’s challenge to reach the last four of Wimbledon 2025. Sinner took two hours and 21 minutes to beat the American in three straight sets. The first set went into a tie break, and the next two sets ended with the same score of 6-4.

Sinner broke twice in the match and denied Shelton two opportunities to break. This win means that Sinner will play in his second Wimbledon semi-final. He has reached the final of the last three Grand Slams played and won two. This will be a golden opportunity to break his deadlock on grass.

Alcaraz in hunt for three in a row

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is on the hunt for his third consecutive Wimbledon title. The Spaniard is fresh from winning his fifth Grand Slam. He reaches yet another Wimbledon final after beating Cameron Norrie in straight sets. Alcaraz took just one hour and 35 minutes to wrap up the match 6-2, 6-3, and 6-3.

Fritz reaches second Grand Slam semi

Taylor Fritz ended Karen Khachanov’s run to book his place in the last four. The match was decided after two hours and 34 minutes. Fritz won the first two sets 6-3 and 6-4. Khaachanov took the third set 6-1. The last set went into a tiebreaker, and Fritz won it to reach his first Wimbledon semi-final. Fritz will face the defending champion and aim for his second Grand Slam final.

Only two out of the remaining four players have made it to the last stage. One is a two-time defending champion and the other is a two-time champion. Carlos Alcaraz has defeated Novak Djokovic in the previous two finals. Both players could end up playing a third consecutive Wimbledon final.
