Jannik Sinner Delivered a flawless Match to Dash Home Hope

Jannik Sinner won the US Open 2024 after a convincing three-set win over Taylor Fritz in the final. The World No. 1 won his first US Open and his second Grand Slam. He has a 100% record in Grand Slam finals. It was a tough loss for the American player, who was playing in his first Grand Slam final.

Build-up to the finals

Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz advanced to their first-ever US Open final. The World No.1 is already a Grand Slam champion, while Fritz was playing in his first championship match.

Sinner eased past Jack Draper in the last four. Draper had not dropped a set in the entire tournament. Jannik ended up being his toughest competitor. The World No.1 won in straight sets against his Britisher opponent.

Taylor Fritz & Frances Tiafoe played an all-American semi-final. Fritz was taken down to the wire in all the sets. It took his five sets and 49 games to win the match. The player was on cloud 9 after an epic battle. He was ready to face one of the best in the business.

Jannik Sinner: Early break leading to first set win

Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open 2024. He was playing his second hard court Grand Slam final. The Italian broke Fritz in the first game. Fritz took his revenge in the fourth game. He converted his first break point of the match to level the score at 2-2. Sinner had some other plans and broke Fritz to take a 4-3 lead. He then took the next two games. Jannik Sinner won the first set 6-3. The World No.1 converted three out of the six break points he got in the first set. Taylor Fritz was more exhausted in the semi-finals and Sinner was fresher than his opponent.

Leaving it late in the second set

Both players were ready for a fight in the second set. They served well and didn’t allow the opponent to take any break. Sinner led 5-4 after his serve. He decided to end the set in the next game. The Italian made his fourth break of the match in the last game of the second set. He won 6-4 and had a comfortable lead against the home favourite.

Thrilling third set

Taylor Fritz was looking down and out after the first two sets. However, he still had some fight left in him. He broke Sinner and had a 4-3 lead at one time. Jannik Sinner knew that he had a chance to seal the championship in the third set. Fritz was on a 5-3 lead. However, Sinner showed why he is the World No. 1. The Italian won the next four games to win the set 7-5.

The result indicates that Sinner is a tough opponent on hard court. He has dominated both hard court Grand Slams this year. Sinner will now focus on winning the other two major titles and register his name in the history books.
