Alcaraz And Djokovic made it To the Olympic Final

Alcaraz and Djokovic advance to the men’s single tennis tournament finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Both players made it to the Olympic final for the first time in history. This will replay the recently concluded Wimbledon that Alcaraz won in dominating style against the Serbian.

Alcaraz And Djokovic: Endeavour for First Olympic Gold

Novak Djokovic is competing in his fifth Olympic games. He won the bronze medal in his first games at Beijing. This was followed by three non-medal Olympic games. Djokovic has a chance to win his first gold and add another achievement to his illustrious career.

Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, is one of the best youngsters playing the game. He advanced to the finals in just his first Olympic appearance. Having won the last two Grand Slams, Alcaraz heads as the favorite against his Serbian opponent.

Domination in the semis

The Spaniard eased past his Canadian opponent in the semi-finals. He was up against Felix Auger Aliassime in the last four. Alcaraz took both sets 6-1, 6-1 to book his place in his first Olympic final. The Spanish youngster won the French Open this season. He showed his domination on the clay court.

Novak Djokovic eased past his Italian opponent Lorenzo Musetti in the second semi-final. The Italian made it to the last four at Wimbledon 2024 and carried the momentum into Paris 2024. He gave some competition in the first set but eventually lost 6-4. Novak showed his experience in the second set and won it 6-2.

Alcaraz and Djokovic

Djokovic had a 13-6 record in singles matches at the Olympics before the 2024 edition. With five wins in the latest edition, the Serbian now has a record of 18-6. Alcaraz is playing his first games and is still unbeaten in the competition.

Alcaraz And Djokovic: Head-to-head record

Both players are tied on 3-3 when it comes to the head-to-head record. Alcaraz won the first meeting in 2022 at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid. Novak took his revenge at the French Open 2023. He defeated Alcaraz in the semis. Alcaraz took his revenge at Wimbledon 2023. The Spaniard won his first Grand Slam on grass. Novak got the better of him in the next two matches. Carlos won the Wimbledon 2024 with ease to level the overall H2H record.

Last chance for the gold

This is a chance of redemption for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian is only missing a Gold medal from his elite list of trophies. He knows that it won’t be easy against a young opponent. This is likely going to be his last appearance at the Olympic games. Alcaraz, on the other hand, has a chance to repeat what Rafael Nadal did at Beijing 2008. Nadal has two gold medals, including a doubles gold at the Rio Olympics 2016.

In the women’s singles, Qinwen Zhang and Donna Vekic will face each other in the finals. Polish player, Iga Swiatek, confirmed the bronze medal for her nation. She won 6-2, 6-1 against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
