At TalkingBets, we bring you honest, data-backed slot reviews and expert sports predictions. Here’s our full Sweet Bonanza POP review, covering the RTP, features, max win and how it compares with the original.

Sweet Bonanza is back.

Again.

But this time, Pragmatic Play has actually changed the formula.

Sweet Bonanza POP, released on October 20, 2026, takes the familiar candy-filled slot and squeezes it onto a much smaller 3×5 grid.

The game is quicker. The rules are simpler. There are new POP prizes. And the headline number is hard to ignore.

Maximum win: 25,000x your bet.

So what exactly has changed? How does Sweet Bonanza POP work? What is its RTP? And is it actually better than the original Sweet Bonanza?

Let’s break it down.

Sweet Bonanza POP at a glance

  • Developer: Pragmatic Play
  • Release date: October 20, 2026
  • Grid: 3×5
  • Win system: Scatter pays
  • RTP: Up to 97.05%
  • Volatility: Medium
  • Maximum win: 25,000x
  • Bet range: 0.10 to 250 per spin (10p to £5 in the UK)
  • Free spins: 10
  • Maximum Candy Bomb multiplier: 1,000x
  • Main features: Tumbles, Free Spins, Candy Bombs and POP prizes

Pragmatic Play says the POP series brings streamlined, faster gameplay to some of its best-known games, designed to widen their appeal.

Rose-Gold Tumble Grid Comparison

How do you play Sweet Bonanza POP?

The biggest difference is obvious straight away.

The original Sweet Bonanza uses a larger 6×5 playing area.

Sweet Bonanza POP uses only three reels and five rows, giving you 15 symbol positions.

There are no traditional paylines.

Instead, you need five or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen to create a win.

When you win, those symbols disappear.

New symbols then drop into their place.

This is the familiar tumble mechanic used throughout the Sweet Bonanza series.

One spin can therefore create several wins in a row before the tumbles finally stop.

What are the POP symbols?

This is the biggest new feature.

Alongside the normal candy, fruit and lollipop symbols, you can land special POP symbols.

If the combination that triggers the Free Spins round contains POP symbols, you also win an instant prize.

The official payouts are:

  • 1 POP symbol: 50x your bet (Spark)
  • 2 POP symbols: 500x your bet (Snap)
  • 3 POP symbols: 25,000x your bet (Burst)

Three POP symbols therefore hit the game’s maximum win immediately.

That sounds spectacular.

It is also extremely unlikely.

BigWinBoard puts the probability of the maximum win at roughly one in 52.6 million spins, and the Free Spins round at about one in 123 spins.

So the 25,000x figure is real.

Just don’t treat it like something you should expect to see regularly.

How do you trigger Free Spins?

You trigger the bonus by landing three or more lollipop Scatters, POP symbols, or a combination of the two.

That gives you 10 Free Spins.

During the bonus, things get more interesting.

Candy Bomb multipliers can appear with values of up to 1,000x.

When a tumble sequence finishes, the multipliers that landed are added together and applied to the total win from that sequence.

You can also extend the bonus.

Landing two more Scatters awards another five Free Spins, while three add ten more.

This is where most of the game’s bigger win potential sits.

What is the Sweet Bonanza POP RTP?

The highest published RTP for Sweet Bonanza POP is 97.05%.

That is unusually high compared with many modern online slots, and one of the highest in Pragmatic Play’s catalogue.

But there is an important catch.

Sweet Bonanza POP comes in several different RTP configurations:

  • 97.05%
  • 96.58%
  • 95.59%
  • 94.56%

The casino decides which version it offers.

This matters more than it may seem.

A game running at 97.05% and one running at 94.56% may look identical on your screen, but their long-term mathematical returns are different.

What does 97.05% RTP mean?

RTP stands for Return to Player.

A 97.05% theoretical RTP does not mean you will get £97.05 back every time you bet £100.

It is a long-term mathematical figure calculated across an enormous number of spins.

Individual sessions can be completely different.

You could win.

You could lose.

You could hit a big multiplier.

You could also go through a long losing spell.

RTP describes the game over the long run, not what will happen to you tonight.

Sweet Bonanza POP vs Sweet Bonanza

This is where things get interesting.

The original feels bigger.

POP feels quicker.

The smaller board makes Sweet Bonanza POP easier to understand at a glance, and it naturally suits smaller screens.

It also has the higher maximum RTP and the higher maximum win.

But that does not automatically make it the better game.

The original has more space, more symbols on screen and the feel that made Sweet Bonanza popular in the first place.

Sweet Bonanza POP vs Sweet Bonanza 1000

Sweet Bonanza 1000 is probably the more interesting comparison.

Both games can pay up to 25,000x your bet.

Both also feature Candy Bomb multipliers reaching 1,000x.

The difference is the structure.

Sweet Bonanza 1000 sticks much closer to the original 6×5 Sweet Bonanza format, with a 96.53% top RTP, a little below POP’s 97.05%.

POP strips everything down to 3×5 and adds its instant POP prizes.

So the choice is fairly simple.

If you prefer the traditional Sweet Bonanza experience with larger reels, Sweet Bonanza 1000 will probably feel more familiar.

If you prefer faster, simpler gameplay, Sweet Bonanza POP has the edge.

Is there a Sweet Bonanza POP strategy?

This is one of the most common questions people ask about slots.

Can you use a betting pattern?

Change your stake?

Wait after several losing spins?

Play at a certain time?

The answer is simple.

No strategy can predict the next Sweet Bonanza POP spin or change its underlying RTP.

Increasing your bet does not make a bonus more likely.

A long losing run does not mean a big win is suddenly “due.”

And a series of good spins does not mean the machine has become “hot.”

Each result is generated independently.

So the most useful thing you can control is not the outcome.

It is your risk.

Set a fixed budget.

Decide how much you are comfortable betting per spin.

And do not raise your stake just to try to recover earlier losses.

Can you win at Sweet Bonanza POP?

Of course.

Players can win individual spins, bonus rounds and sessions.

The game can theoretically pay enormous amounts relative to the original stake.

But Sweet Bonanza POP is still a casino game with a built-in house advantage.

There is no guaranteed way to make money from it.

That distinction is important.

A strategy can change how much you risk.

It cannot tell you what the next spin will produce.

Is Sweet Bonanza POP better than the original?

That depends on what you actually want.

Sweet Bonanza POP may suit you if:

  • You prefer quicker games
  • You play mainly on mobile
  • You want simpler mechanics
  • You like the 25,000x maximum win
  • You like the added POP prizes
  • You can find the 97.05% RTP version

The original may suit you if:

  • You prefer the larger 6×5 grid
  • You want the classic Sweet Bonanza experience
  • You don’t care about the new POP prizes
  • You prefer a game that feels less compressed

Early reviews agree on one point.

Sweet Bonanza POP works.

But it does not reinvent Sweet Bonanza.

BigWinBoard gave it 7/10. It credited the POP prizes with adding appeal, but said the game offers very little that is genuinely new.

That feels fair.

TalkingBets Verdict

Sweet Bonanza POP is best seen as Sweet Bonanza made faster and simpler.

The 3×5 grid makes the action easier to follow.

The 97.05% top RTP is attractive.

The POP prizes give players another reason to watch every bonus trigger.

And 25,000x gives the game a big headline number.

But don’t expect an entirely new slot.

The heart of Sweet Bonanza is the same.

Symbols land.

Wins tumble.

Candy Bombs multiply them.

And sometimes the numbers get very big.

TalkingBets rating: 7.5/10

Best feature: 97.05% maximum RTP

Biggest attraction: 25,000x maximum win

Best for: Players who like Sweet Bonanza but want quicker, simpler gameplay

Worth remembering: Check which RTP version your casino is actually running before you play.

Sweet Bonanza POP does not reinvent one of online casino’s biggest slot franchises.

It probably does not need to.

Sometimes shrinking the game is enough to make it feel new again.

18+. Gambling can be addictive. Please play responsibly.
