Following the exit of some of the big names on days 1 and 2, day 3 also promised a lot of excitement on the court. French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz was present on the court to play his second round. There were a few other players who took center stage.

Wimbledon saw Alcaraz run past Vukic

Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz is one of the players who has a bright future in the game. He won the French Open this year and is heading into Wimbledon with his head held high. Following his straight-set win in the first round, Alcaraz faced Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic in the next round. Once again, Alcaraz proved why he is a dominant force in the game. He took the match 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 with 11 aces in total. The Spaniard also converted six of the 11 break points that he got in the match. Carlos will face USA’s Frances Tiafoe in the next round.

Medvedev overcomes the French challenge

Daniil Medvedev is one of the toughest competitors in the game. He is looking for the second Grand Slam of his career. The Russian player faced Frenchman Alexandre Muller in the second round. Medvedev lost the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3). The second set went into another tiebreaker. This time, Medvedev came out as the winner. He then won the next two sets to book his place in the next round.

Naomi Osaka’s Wimbledon struggle continues

Four-time Grand Slam winner, Naomi Osaka, bows out of the tournament after losing 4-6, 1-6 to USA’s Emma Navarro. The 26-year-old has won the Australian Open and US Open twice but has struggled to make it past round 3 at Wimbledon in her five appearances. She also suffered a second-round exit in the French Open and also lost in round 1 in Australia.

Coco Gauff continues to hunt for a second Grand Slam

No. 2 seed Coco Gauff has also qualified for the next round of the competition. The 2023 US Open champion has already made it to the semi-finals of the two Grand Slams held this year. She is looking to make it to the finals this time and win the trophy. Gauff eased past Anca Todoni 6-2, 6-1 in the second round.

Bopanna advances, and Sumit Nagal knocked out in men’s doubles

Indian tennis superstars Rohan Bopanna and Sumit Nagal played in the first round of the men’s doubles. Bopanna is having a terrific season with Matthew Ebden. The Indo-Aussie pair won the Australian Open and reached the semi-finals of the French Open. They are seeded second and won the opener against the Dutch pair of Robin Hasse and Sander Arends.

Following his exit from the first round of the singles event, Sumit Nagal suffered another setback after losing the men’s doubles match. The Indo-Serb pair of Nagal and Dusan Lajovic lost to the Spanish duo of Pedro Martinez and Jaume Munar.
