Alcaraz Makes History with Great Victory over Djokovic
Alcaraz, the new Spanish King, is ready to create his legacy in the sport. 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz is making statements following his dominant win over Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2024 final.
24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic, was up against Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz in the replay of the Wimbledon 2023 final. Carlos won his first grasscourt major last year following a five-set win over the Serbian sensation. He was looking to lift his second Wimbledon crown and fourth Grand Slam. Novak, on the other hand, had a chance to go one clear of everyone. He was also in contention to match Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon crowns.

Alcaraz headed as the favorite against one of the greatest players. He was eyeing his second Grand Slam of the season. Following his French Open win this year, the youngster was high on confidence looking for back-to-back crowns. Carlos made a comeback against Daniil Medvedev to book a place in the finals. After going a set down, the Spanish player took three consecutive sets.

Novak Djokovic knew that it wouldn’t be easy to match Alcaraz’s pace. He outclassed Lorenzo Musetti in three straight sets. He was a different opponent from everyone that Djokovic had faced earlier.
Alcaraz made Early Advantage
The match began with Carlos taking an early break in the match. He was on another level throughout the first set. He wrapped it up 6-2 after converting two of his six break points. Novak was unable to capitalize on the single break point that was awarded to him. 12 winners to Djokovic’s eight and a 100% service games conversion gave Alcaraz an early advantage.

Alcaraz Dominance continues
Carlos continued to accelerate by taking points in the second set. Once again, he broke twice in the set. This time the Spaniard had a 100% break point conversion rate. Novak was outclassed as Alcaraz won the set 6-2. The Spanish player had a better conversion rate. His opponent struggled to return the serve. Carlos was one step away from registering another win against Novak.

Game, set and match
The third set was completely different from the first two sets. Djokovic began to settle in the final. Both players broke twice in this set. Carlos earned six break points and Novak earned two. The set went into a tiebreaker. Carlos knew that this was his chance to seal the deal in three straight sets. He once again outclassed the veteran to win the tiebreaker 7-4. 23 winners in the final set to Djokovic’s 12 played a crucial part in winning the Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz lifted his fourth Grand Slam trophy. He now has two Wimbledon’s, one US Open and one French Open. Novak lost his third Wimbledon final. This was the third time that the Serb lost in the final of the same major in two consecutive years. His hunt for the first Grand Slam in 2024 will continue at the US Open.
