The Italian Open 2025: The New Era Rises
The Italian Open 2025 has reached the last phase of the competition. There were a couple of heartbreaks in the previous rounds, but most of the top seeds have made it to the most important rounds of this tournament.
Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti became the first entrants into the semi-final stage of the competition. Both opponents won their matches in straight sets to book their place in the last four.
World No. 1, Jannik Sinner, joined these two along with Tommy Paul. These two were the latest entrants into the last four.
The Italian Open 2025: Alcaraz holds Draper’s challenge
World No. 3 and defending French Open champion, Carlos Alcaraz is enjoying a decent season on the clay surface so far. The 21-year-old was the first player to book his entry into the last four. Alcaraz defeated his English opponent, Jack Draper, in a one-sided match.

Jack Draper had two wins against Alcaraz, with the second coming at the India Wells this year. Alcaraz was looking to avenge his loss, and he did it in style. The Spaniard earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over the No. 5 seed. Alcaraz had a 100% conversion rate for his four break points. Draper also converted two break points but had a low conversion rate of 25%. Alcaraz has proved to be a tough customer to beat on the clay court. He defeated another young prospect on his way to the last four.
Musetti knocks out the defending champion
Lorenzo Musetti is another young player establishing his name on the tennis court. The Italian reached his first ATP 1000 final this year at the Monte-Carlo Masters. He is a man in form, but was against a tough opponent in the form of Alexander Zverev. The German was the defending champion in Rome.

Musetti overcame Zverev’s challenge with ease. The first set went into a tiebreaker that Musetti won 7-1. Zverev lost the second set 6-4 and was eliminated from the competition. Musetti had a 100% conversion rate for his three break points. Zverev, on the other hand, converted two out of the six break points that he earned.
Sinner outclasses Ruud
Casper Ruud came into this tournament with his first ATP 1000 win in Madrid. He was high on confidence but faced the returning Jannik Sinner in the last eight. Sinner is fresh after a three-month ban due to doping charges. He is still the world no. 1, and his performances justify the same.
Jannik Sinner won 6-0, 6-1 against Casper Ruud. The Norwegian just took one game in the entire match. Sinner converted six out of the nine break points he earned during the match.
Tommy Paul books a semi-tie with Sinner
Tommy Paul became the fourth semi-finalist of the Italian Open. He defeated his Polish opponent, Hubert Hurkacz, in straight sets. The first set went into a tie-breaker that Paul won 7-4. He then won the second set 6-3 to book a semi-final tie with Sinner. Hurkacz broke thrice in the match, but Paul broke four times to take the match.
