Cerundolo beats Aussie opponent
No. 9 seed, Alex de Minaur was up against No. 25 seed Francisco Cerundolo in the Round of 16. The Argentine proved to be a tough customer for his Australian opponent. He took the first set 7-5 and wrapped up the match with a 6-3 win in the second set. Both players struggled a bit on the first serve. One of the reasons why Argentina won was the break-point conversion. Cerundolo earned seven break points and he converted six. De Minaur, on the other hand, earned 14 break points but converted only three.
Jack Draper ends Taylor Fritz’s challenge
No. 3 seed, Taylor Fritz was up against No. 13 seed, Jack Draper. The American reached the US Open final last year and the quarter-final of the Australian Open 2025. However, he couldn’t repeat his form against Draper. Jack won the match 7-5 and 6-4. He broke three times and only allowed Taylor to win one break point in the entire match. Draper will now face another American, Ben Shelton in the next round.

Ben defeated fellow American, Brandon Nakashima in straight sets. The first set went into a tiebreaker that ended with a score of 8-6. This was followed by a 6-1 win in the second set.
