US Open 2024: The Last Grand Slam With Full Of Upsets
US Open 2024 has been full of upsets. Both Paris Olympics 2024 finalists suffered an early round exit in the tournament. Carlos Alcaraz was the first one to get eliminated and was followed by Novak Djokovic. However, some of the biggest names still remain in the tournament, including the No. 1 seed, Jannik Sinner.
US Open 2024: The Last Grand Slam of the Year
This is the last Grand Slam of the season and the competition is reaching the quarter-final stage. Some big names still remain in the competition. A couple of players have already won aa Grand Slam and others are still searching for their first one.

Alexander Zverev escaping early scare
One such player is Alexander Zverev. The German has reached two Grand Slam finals, including the 2020 US Open. However, Zverev failed to beat the opposition player in both matches. Zverev was up against Brandon Nakashima of the United States. He lost the first set 6-3. Nakashima had full support of the home crowd. However, the No. 4 seed showed his class by taking the next three sets. Zverev won 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the last eight. He will face another American, Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final.
US Open 2024: Taylor Fritz upsets Casper Ruud
Casper Ruud has failed to live up to expectations in Grand Slams. The No. 8 seed suffered a Round of 16 exit after losing to Taylor Fritz in four sets. Ruud took the first set 6-3. However, the American had some other plans as he took the next three sets. Fritz won 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2 to book a quarter-final berth in back-to-back US Open.

Grigor Dimitrov ends Andrey Rublev’s campaign
Andrey Rublev also continues to struggle in Grand Slams. The 26-year-old has played in 10 quarter-finals but has never made it through to the last four. Rublev was looking to qualify to the last eight for the fifth time in the US Open. He lost the first two sets 6-3 and 7-6. Dimitrov was on a roll. Rublev made a comeback by winning the next two sets 6-1 and 6-3. The match went into final set and the Bulgarian won it 6-3. Dimitrov reached his second US Open quarter-final. He is also a semi-finalist from the 2019 edition.

Frances Tiafoe continues his good run
Frances Tiafoe made a name for himself by reaching the semi-final of the US Open 2022. He reached the quarter-finals last year and once again booked his place in the last eight. The American won in four sets against Alexei Popyrin. Tiafoe took the first set 6-4 and the next one in tie breaker 7-6. Popyrin won the third set 6-2. The fourth set ended 6-3 in favour of the American. He will now face Dimitrov in the last eight. Popyrin’s fairy tale story ended in the Round of 16. The Australian won his third-round match against Novak Djokovic.

Zverev is the favourite to reach the finals from this side of the draw. However, Dimitrov and Tiafoe will be a strong challenge in the semis.
