Sinner Won the First Grand Slam of the Year 2025
Sinner claimed the Australian Open 2025 title in style, defending his crown with a dominant straight-sets victory. Alexander Zverev, who aimed for a similar triumph, was completely outclassed by the Italians in their encounter. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka failed to defend her Australian Open title after a tough loss to Madison Keys.

The one-sided final lasted for 2 hours and 32 minutes. Jannik Sinner now has three Grand Slams. He won the Australian Open and US Open in 2024. The Italian is in a red hot form on hard court.
Sinner’s dominance from the start
The world no. 1 has played some fine tennis recently. He showed his class in the opening set by winning it 6-3. Sinner broke late in the set to make it 5-3. He then served for the set and won it 6-3. The Italian got six opportunities to break and only converted one. This break was enough for him to seal the set.
Sasha Zverev has a strong serve. His 1st serve success rate was 81% to Sinner’s 71%. Sinner was better on the second serve. He was also calculated throughout the set and didn’t allow his opponent to earn a breakpoint.
Competitive second set
The second set saw the best of Zverev. The Germans needed some hope to get back into the game. Aussie fans and supporters were also expecting a fightback from the No. 2 seed. Both players were playing end-to-end games. They were unable to break each other’s serve. Sinner got two opportunities but Zverev was not allowing his opponent to take momentum.
Alexander Zverev delivered six aces but his first serve percentage dropped to 63%. Sinner improved his first serve to 90%. The set went into a tiebreaker. Sinner took early momentum and won the breaker 7-4. The Italian was two sets up and was heading to a straight-set win.

In the tiebreaker, both players were tied at 4-4. Zverev was still in the game but his unforced errors led to his downfall.
Sinner wins third Grand Slam
It was only a matter of a few minutes for Jannik Sinner. Once again, Sinner took a break point and won the set 6-3. Both players struggled in the first serve. Zverev made a 59% successful first serve and Sinner had a successful 55% serve. Sinner continued his A-game and won the match with ease.

Jannik Sinner started the serve in the third set. The score was 3-2 when Zverev was serving. Sinner earned double break points in the sixth game. He converted one and that gave him the momentum. Sinner never looked back and convincingly won the match.
The 23-year-old Italian only dropped two sets in the Australian Open. His dominance on the hard court has been the biggest reason why Sinner is world no. 1. He has yet to win the French Open and Wimbledon. Zverev, on the other hand, has lost three Grand Slam finals. He will be looking to add at least one title to his name.
