Djokovic to meet Zverev in Australian Open 2025 semi-final
Djokovic continues his search for a 25th Grand Slam title following his heroics against Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open 2025. The Serbian tennis star has made it to his 50th Grand Slam semi-final. This win means that Djokovic has reached his 11th semi-final in Australia. He has never lost a semi-final or a final in Australia. Novak will face the number 2 seed, Alexander Zverev in the semis.

Djokovic: comeback from a set down
Carlos Alcaraz has shown that he is the future of the game. The Spaniard has won four Grand Slams and is still 21. He was seeded No. 3 in the Australian Open 2025. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2024 final; this was his chance for another win against the record holder.
Alcaraz took the first set comfortably. He broke twice and allowed Djokovic to break once in the first set. The set ended 6-4 in favor of the Spaniard. Novak was a set down and had to do something to get back into the game.
Djokovic similarly took the second set. This time Novak won 6-4 and he won two break points. Novak ended the set with 11 winners and leveled the score at 1-1.
Novak Djokovic Outlasts Alcaraz
The former World No. 1 was growing in confidence after a second-set win. He wrapped up the third set in style. Novak once again won two break points to Alcaraz’s one. The third set ended 6-3 in favor of the Serb. Novak struggled with his first serve as he only delivered 19 out of the 32 attempted. However, he was one step ahead of Alcaraz at every moment and took the lead in the crucial game.

Both players were giving their best and playing long rallies. Novak knew that he couldn’t allow Alcaraz to take the momentum. Alcaraz was also playing maturely and not hitting any silly shots. He was building up rallies and forced Novak to make some mistakes.

In the fourth set, Alcaraz took Novak to his limit. Djokovic broke early and that allowed him to settle well in the set. He won the set 6-4 and reached his 50th Grand Slam semi-final.
Back-to-back semis for Zverev
Novak Djokovic will be up against Alexander Zverev in the semi-final. The German is hunting his first Grand Slam. This will be his third semi-final in Australia. Zverev faced Tommy Paul in the last eight. Paul has played decent tennis and was a tough opponent.

Alexander Zverev took the first two sets in the tiebreaker. He was exceptional in the tiebreakers as he only gave away one point and won 14. Paul made a comeback in the third set and won 6-2. However, Zverev showed why he is seeded No. 2 and took the fourth set 6-1. The German will face Novak and will be eyeing his first final in Australia. Both players have a lot of things at stake in this game.
