The BNP Paribas Open: Zverev’s Unexpected Exit In Round 64
The BNP Paribas Open 2025 has reached the Round of 64. All top seeds start the competition in this round. BNP Paribas Open is one of the biggest ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. Almost every top seed is a part of this event. Due to his ban, Jannik Sinner is the only big absentee from this year’s competition.
Alexander Zverev is the top seed but his tournament ended in the Round of 64. A couple of other players also struggled in Indian Wells. Here is a look at some of the results from this round.

The BNP Paribas Open Unseeded Dutch knocks out No. 1 seed
Alexander Zverev lost the final of the Australian Open. This was his chance of redemption. He was up against Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands. Zverev managed to take the first set 6-4. The Dutchman was not going down easily. He took the second set into a tie breaker. A 7-5 score ended the set in favour of the Dutchman. The final set also went into a tie breaker. This time Griekspoor won it by a score of 7-4. His comeback resulted in a shocking exit for the German.
Casper Ruud bows out against 31-year-old American
Casper Ruud has stayed in the top 10 rankings for a decent period. However, his inconsistency at time has stopped him from becoming one of the best in the current times. The Norwegian also suffered a Round of 64 exit against Marcos Giron. Having lost the first set in a tie breaker, Ruud won the second set. However, the 31-year-old proved to be a tough customer for Ruud. He won the third set and booked his place in the round of 32.

Medvedev eases past his Chinese opponent
Daniil Medvedev has reached the last two finals at the Indian Wells but has failed to lift the title. He is hunting for his first title at this venue. The powerhouse was up against Yunchaokete Bu of China. He was aggressive throughout the match and took both sets 6-2.

Tsitsipas, Tommy Paul, Musetti advance
Stefanos Tsitsipas also made it to the next round following his 6-2, 6-4 win over Thiago Seyboth Wild from Brazil. Tsitsipas has been one of the best players on the tour but has struggled to lift titles. He will be eyeing his first at the Indian Wells.
America’s Tommy Paul defeated his countryman, Tristan Boyer in two straight sets to book his place in the next round. Paul converted five of his seven break points in the match.
23-year-old Italian, Lorenzo Musetti also made it to the last 32 following his three-set win against Roman Safiullin. The Italian won the first set 7-5 but lost the second set by the same score. He wrapped up the match with a 6-2 win in the final set.
Unseeded British player, Cameron Norrie knocked out Jiri Lehecka in three sets. Lehecka, seeded 23, won the first set 6-3. He failed to convert 10 break points in the match. This eventually led to his elimination. Norrie won the next two sets and booked his place in the last 32.
