Medvedev , Rune and Swiatek make it to the Quarterfinals
Medvedev and Holger Rune have reached the last eight of the BNP Paribas Open 2025. They book their place along with Frenchman, Arthur Fils and Dutchman, Tallon Griekspoor.
In the women’s championship, 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva defeated 2023 champion, Elena Rybakina in straight sets. Iga Swiatek also booked her place in the last eight. No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula suffered a shock exit from the round of 16.
Medvedev eases past Tommy Paul
No. 5 seed Daniil Medvedev took on No. 10 seed Tommy Paul in the last 16. It was a competitive first set between the two players. Medvedev looked better and won by a score of 6-4. He then outclassed his opponent in the second set. Medvedev won 6-0 to take the game in straight sets. He delivered eight aces to Paul’s four.

Both players broke each other in the first set. Paul converted two out of the five break points earned. Medvedev, on the other hand, broke thrice in both sets. Daniil has played good tennis at the Indian Wells. He has reached the last two finals but lost both of the matches against Carlos Alcaraz. This is his chance for redemption.
Rune knocks out Tsitsipas
Holger Rune won his round of 16 tie against Stefanos Tsitsipas in two straight sets. The Dane won both sets 6-4 to book his place in the last eight. Rune converted three break points to Tsitsipas’ one in the entire match. The Greek star was seeded eighth and Rune was seeded 12th in the tournament. Tsitsipas has been inconsistent and the result proved the same. Rune was the better player on the night. His first-serve success rate of 72% was superior to Stefanos, whose success rate was 62%.

Mirra Andreeva upsets 2023 champion
2024 French Open semi-finalist, Mirra Andreeva defeated 2023 Indian Wells champion, Elena Rybakina with ease. The 17-year-old just gave away three games in the entire match against a tough opponent. Mirra, seed 9, won the first set 6-1 against the No. 7 seed. She then took the second set 6-2 to wrap up the match in style. Andreeva converted six out of the 12 break points earned. Rybakina had a 100% conversion rate for her only break point.
Defending champion marches into the quarter-finals
Two-time winner and current defending champion, Iga Swiatek also booked her place in the last eight. The Polish powerhouse won the match 6-1, 6-1 in a completely dominating fashion against Karolina Muchova. Swiatek converted five of the 11 break points earned in the entire match. Her winning percentage on the first serve was the biggest reason behind this domination.

She will now face Qinwen Zheng of China, who defeated Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine. The Chinese player won the match 6-3 and 6-2.
Pegula bows out after leading a set
American star Jessica Pegula was knocked out by Elina Svitolina in a three-set thriller. Pegula won the first set 7-5 but was outclassed in the next two sets. Elina won 6-1 and 6-2 to book her place in the last eight.
